The Anniversary Dinner is the largest and most anticipated event for JAS! The fundraiser dinner is held to commemorate 108 years of promoting strong relationships between Japan and the United States in the Southern California area. The Annual Dinner includes the Cocktail reception and Silent Auction, Kokusai Shimin Sho “International Citizens Award” Presentation, and the Dinner program.

Timeline of Events (Tentative)
Volunteer check-in:  1:00pm
/ 3:00pm / 4:00pm

  • 1:00pm - 1:30pm: Unloading 
  • 1:30pm – 3:00pm: Setup of Registration, Reception, Floral Centerpiece assembly, Dinner Place Setting and Stage
  • 1:30pm - 4:00pm: Silent Auction Orientation and Set-up
  • 4:00pm -  6:00pm: Dress rehearsal and sound check for MCs and performers
  • 5:00pm:   VIP Guests registration begins
  • 5:00pm - 6:00pm: VIP Reception and Silent Auction
  • 6:00pm: General Guest registration begins
  • 6:00pm – 7:00pm: Reception and Silent Auction
  • 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Rehearsal in Ballroom for Stage Management volunteers
  • 6:50pm: 1stSilent Auction Section Closes
  • 7:00pm: 2nd Silent Auction Section Closes
  • 7:00pm – 9:00pm: Dinner and Awards Ceremony
  • 9:00pm – 10:30pm: Clean up, Packing up and Loading

Requirements

  • Work for at least 5 hours on the day of the event, and arrive at the specified check-in time. If you need to leave early, please consult with the Volunteer Coordination Chair.
  • Dress code is business attire, but wear comfortable shoes (lots of standing and walking). However, absolutely no tennis shoes or sneakers. For those working during setup, please come in comfortable clothes, and change into business attire.
  • Volunteers will be provided dinner and beverages. You will be informed by your team leader when you can break for dinner.  But, please be sure to eat a big meal before coming to the venue. Your dinner time may be later in the evening, depending on your duties. Also, the consumption of alcoholic beverages during your shift is not permitted
