The Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra is a Los Angeles-based big band that is created by genre-shaking composer/conductor Dr. Alan Chan in 2011. Members of the orchestra perform with Los Angeles' most premier ensembles including major motion picture and television shows, as well as Grammy Award-winning albums.

Alan's music often takes inspiration from his life as a resident in various parts of the world and raises awareness of current issues such as environmental protection. His works can be heard in an array of venues serving Classical (Taiwan National Concert Hall), experimental (the Stone, NYC) and jazz (Typhoon Restaurant at Santa Monica Airport), as well as conferences/festivals such as International Jazz Festival Enschede and PASIC.

Winner of the 2011 ArtEZ International Jazz Composition Contest in the Netherlands, as well as awards and fellowships from ASCAP, Percussive Arts Society and Ucross Foundatio, Alan's works have been performed by Grammy-nominated Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Millennium Jazz Orchestra (the Netherlands), Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Taipei Percussion and La Jolla Symphony. His band has received fundings from American Composers Forum, New Music USA, as well as music lovers.

Tsu Zu Ku (To Be Continued), the first track from the Shrimp Tale CD, is a dedication as a symbol of hope to the people of Japan after the East Japan Earthquake in 2011.

ACJO will be selling CDs during on of the four shows this fall that features this composition. All proceeds from the CD sale will be donated to the 2011 Japan Relief Fund to help the rebuilding effort in East Japan which was affected greatly during the earthquake and tsunami.
