The Nikkei Women's Legacy Association will host and sponsor a special program to honor Mario Reyes, a friend of the Japanese American community, who is the photo editor of the Japanese American bilingual newspaper, the Rafu Shimpo.

Reyes has adopted the Japanese community and, with his camera, he has been the community's historian for the past 22 years. His devotion and love of the Japanese American community is the focus of a new documentary short film entitled, "More Than 1,000 Words," produced and directed by Stephen Nagano.  The film and a retrospective of Reyes' photos from 1989 to the present will be screened.

Following the program, there will be a reception offering desserts, coffee and tea.

This event is free and open to the public.

Reservations required.
