The enforcement environment is more challenging than ever. CBP and other law enforcement agencies are working together to more strategically mine their vast data resources to combat fraud and to protect the revenue. Enforcement measures associated with intellectual property rights infringement, misuse of preferential/free trade programs, and smuggling are key priorities. In addition, the Government is working more creatively to protect rights and to combat alleged violations of the Customs laws. In this seminar, Jorge Garcia, CBP Assistant Director of Enforcement for the Electronics Center of Excellence and Expertise and Heather Litman, an attorney with GDLSK, will discuss CBP’s current undertakings and strategies importers can take to stay out of trouble and deal with problems that may arise.
