Trip Through Tohoku: September 8 – September 14, 2014
Optional: The 9th International Symposium of America-Japan Societies in Sapporo, Hokkaido, will be presented by America-Japan Society of Hokkaido from September 5-7, 2014. Details
After the Symposium, JASSC is offering a 7 day tour through Tohoku to visit the people and places where the 2011 Japan Relief Fund have supported relief and recovery efforts.
Tour includes –
- 7-night accommodations, including one night in a traditional Japanese inn and three nights at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo (6 nights for those attending the conference in Sapporo*)

- Visit to Hiraizumi, Tohoku’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site

- Visit to Rikuzentakata’s “Tree of Hope”
- Meetings and discussions with tsunami survivors

Expert, bilingual guides from JAS partnering disaster recovery organizations at main visits (Ofunato, Sendai/Ishinomaki and Fukushima)

English speaking guide and motor coach for 4 days (Sept. 8-11)

East Japan Railway Company (JR East) arrangements from Sendai to Hanamaki, Ichinoseki to Sendai, Sendai to Fukushima and Fukushima to Tokyo (not JR pass)
