The 21st Japan - America Grassroots Summit 2011 will be held in Kochi prefecture, Japan. The Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception is planned on June 29th in Cape Ashizuri, John Manjiro's birthplace. The 13 local session programs are prepared by volunteeres in 11 cities and towns all over Kochi.

The Grassroots Summit is a home stay Program aimed at heartfelt exchange between America and Japan, regardless of age or language ability.The Japan- America Grassroots Summit is an annual largescale meeting of Japanese and American citizens, held alternately in Japan and America. The Summit aims to strengthen the peaceful relationship between Japan and America by fostering grassroots friendship. The Summit is managed jointly by the CIE and the Summit Volunteer Committee.
